About Us

‘The Friends’ is a membership organisation of over 200 members who cherish and support this historic house and its garden. Individual ‘Friends’ pay a modest annual subscription and if they can, offer their time as volunteers to help in the house and garden and organise and run a wide range of events to attract more people to experience this lovely place and help raise funds to invest further in the property. All are welcomed and valued whatever their age or abilities.

We have been closely involved with the development and maintenance of the gardens and we continue to provide support for this through volunteering and buying equipment, plants, compost etc. We help with purchases for the house itself providing equipment (for example) so that people can use the house for talks or films; as well as new curtains and lights for the parlour.

There is always something new to see in the garden and the collection in the house is constantly being updated as new and old treasures are found and restored for display. Periodically we have art exhibitions, quilt displays and sustainability events which you can get involved with. You can also catch up on our furry friends in the attics by watching the newly installed bat cam. Nantclwyd y Dre is a haven for wildlife in the house as well as the garden. Or you may just wish to soak up the peace and tranquility of the house at quiet times where a cuppa and a comfy chair awaits you.
